Patrick Watson

Me and sis went to see Patrick Watson at the Vogue on Thursday night. It was a wonderful concert...absolutely fantastic. The band's performance had so much energy and life and every song was rearranged for the concert in ways that only improved what I hear on their albums. He sang back-to-back my two favourite songs from "Close to Paradise" ("The Great Escape" and "Luscious Life") and most of the "Wooden Arms" album.

They did a fantastic version of "Wooden Arms". I love their experimentation with sound. Upturned pots, cowbells, shouting towards the microphone, saws, strings, various keyboards...you name it. All put together to make a superb mesh of sound and texture and intermingled with beautiful, mature lyrics. They are genuine, talented musicians and we left the concert feeling inspired, invigorated, and happy.
